UFWW Executive Board Roles and Responsibilities
The spring meeting will be held from 4:30-6:00 on May 15th in 100 Arntzen Hall.
ABOUT THE OPEN POSITIONS
There are four Officer positions up for election this Spring, all of which have two-year terms. These are the positions and a description of their responsibilities:
UFWW executive board meetings will be held on Thursdays at 4:00 pm next year. The board typically meets every other week.
President
- Presides at all official meetings
- Performs such duties as are customarily associated with the office,
- Charges committees with their duties,
- Appoints and/or discharges all committee members, and
- Acts as an official representative of UFWW.
Vice President
- Assists the President,
- Acts as an official representative of UFWW,
- Acts in the absence of the President
Director of Communications
- Handles UFWW correspondence, including notice of meetings, elections, bargaining updates, and amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws,
- Maintains and updates the UFWW website, and
- Prepares, edits, and distributes quarterly newsletter to UFWW members.
Chief Steward
- Presides at quarterly meetings of the Stewards’ Council,
- Arranges meetings with job candidates and individual stewards,
- Coordinates the activities of the Stewards, and
- Maintains the membership records.
OPEN AT-LARGE POSITIONS
There are two open at-large positions, each which has a two-year term. The principal role of these positions is to support the President and the Officers. If you want to get more involved in the UFWW, these are great roles for learning more about how the union operates and what we do.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED SESSIONS
We will be hosting two sessions for individuals who are interested in learning more about various Executive Board roles.
Monday, May 5th, 4:30pm in CV 104
Tuesday, May 6th, 9:00am in SL 110
