We write with two updates today: one concerning bargaining and one concerning a special election for a seat on the UFWW executive board.

TENTATIVE AGREEMENT and GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

First, we write to let you know that the bargaining team has reached a tentative agreement in the process of negotiating a successor agreement to our previous contract.

We also would like to invite you to an informational forum open to all faculty where UFWW will present the new agreement and provide an opportunity for questions. The forum is scheduled for Monday, October 25^th at 4pm. You can access the meeting using this zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89501021461?pwd=MXlid1BlUlhZdCtNTVNIL21pSmZJdz09. If Zoom requests a passcode, it is UFWW.

On Monday, you will also be sent an invitation to join the Canvas site 2021 Collective Bargaining. Accepting the invitation will allow you to access the tentative agreement and a digest of the changes from the previous contract.

Members of UFWW will have an opportunity to ratify this agreement. Members will receive an electronic ballot Monday evening and voting will close at 5:00pm on Friday, October 29^th. If you are a member and do not receive a ballot by noon on Tuesday, October 26^th, please contact Theresa Warburton at president@PROTECTED.

If you are not a member but would like to vote on ratification, you can become a member by using the form linked here. We are happy to process your membership quickly so that you can participate in voting on this tentative agreement.

SPECIAL ELECTION for UFWW EXEC

Second, the Executive Board of the United Faculty of Western Washington is seeking nominations to fill a vacant, two-year, at-large position. Any member of UFWW is eligible to nominate themselves or another UFWW member for this position. 

Please send nominations to the convener of the UFWW Elections Committee, Josh Cerretti, at joshinformant@PROTECTED. We especially encourage nominations of faculty whose primary assignment is in a unit not currently represented on Exec  (for the '21-'22 year: College of Science and Engineering, College of Fine and Performing Arts, Woodring College of Education, Fairhaven College, and Western Libraries).

Nominations will be accepted until the close of the General Membership meeting on Monday, October 25th, at which point online voting will open. Voting will remain open until 5:00pm on Friday, October 29^th. Whichever candidate receives the greatest number of votes will be appointed to an at-large position on UFWW Exec for the 2021-'22 and 2022-'23 academic years.
