Both the Washington State House of Representatives and the Washington State Senate have now released their budget proposals for the 2021-2023 biennium. *Neither of these proposals include any cuts to Western’s state appropriation for 2021-23.* Neither proposal includes any employee furloughs and both proposals include all the compensation funding from the 2019-21 biennium. Dear Colleagues,We write to you today with an update on bargaining between UFWW and WWU. In late 2019 the UFWW Bargaining Team began preparations to negotiate a full successor agreement to the CBA that was set to expire on September 15, 2020. Formal bargaining began in early March 2020, only to be ground to a halt less than two weeks later with the explosion of the pandemic. Dear all, Earlier this morning, in response to persistent emails and requests from UFWW, university admin informed us that they would send an email to all faculty with an update regarding support for WiFi technologies for remote teaching. They have done this. In the email, the administration at long last lays out a process for faculty to request funds (and reimbursements) to ensure effective Internet connectivity at home.
