The House of Representatives and Senate released their budget proposals in Olympia this week.  Both proposals cut Higher Education and many other state services dramatically.  And both budgets depend heavily on new revenues. 

 

Almost from the moment the budget proposals were released, members of the Democratic caucus in both the house and senate began to waver on their commitment to new revenues.  These revenues are absolutely crucial to ensure that the coming cuts are not permanently devastating.
